The short version
- Tid has no accounts. There is nothing to sign in to.
- Everything Tid records is processed and stored on your iPhone. The only thing that leaves it is a lookup to Apple Maps for the name and category of a place you visit.
- iCloud sync is optional, and off until you turn it on.
- This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
- If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address until we have sent the launch email, then delete it.
Who we are
Vicling is not yet a registered company. It will be registered as a Norwegian limited company (AS). Until then, the person responsible for the data described on this page is Erling-Andre Solbakken Leine, Norway.

Tid
What Tid records
To show where your time goes, Tid uses your iPhone’s location, and motion and workout data if you allow it. From this, Tid works out when you arrive at a place and when you leave, when you are travelling, and how: on foot, running, by bike, by car, by boat or by plane. Tid also stores the places you name, such as home and work, and the statistics it calculates from your history.
All of this is processed and stored on your iPhone. We never receive it.
Place names from Apple Maps
To suggest a name and a category for a place you visit, Tid sends the location of that place to Apple’s MapKit service. Apple handles these requests under its own privacy policy. Apart from these lookups, nothing leaves your phone.
iCloud sync
If you turn on iCloud sync, Tid stores your data in a private database in your own iCloud account, so it is available on your other devices. Only your Apple Account can access it. We can’t. Apple explains how iCloud protects this data in its iCloud data security overview.
You can turn sync off in Tid’s settings at any time.
Permissions
Tid asks for access to your location, set to Always, so it can record your day without the app being open. Without it, Tid can’t record your day.
Access to Motion & Fitness and to workouts in Apple Health is optional. Tid only uses them if you turn them on. Health data is used only inside Tid. It is never used for advertising and never shared.
You can change these permissions at any time in the Settings app on your iPhone.
No accounts, ads or tracking
Tid has no user accounts, shows no ads and contains no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting tools. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may pass on anonymous crash reports from Tid to us.
Deleting your data
Tid has an option to delete all its data. Deleting the app from your iPhone also deletes everything it has stored there. If iCloud sync is on, you can also remove Tid’s data from iCloud in your iPhone’s iCloud storage settings.
This website
No cookies or analytics
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or third-party scripts. Fonts and images are served from our own site.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver pages and protect against abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address. If Cloudflare suspects that a visitor is a bot, it may show a short check and set a cookie to remember that it was passed. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
The waitlist
If you leave your email address to hear when Tid launches, we store the address and the date you signed up. We use it for one thing: a single email when Tid is available. Once that email is sent, we delete the list.
The list is stored with Cloudflare, our hosting provider. We keep it because you asked us to, and you can withdraw that at any time by writing to privacy@vicling.com.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Because Tid keeps your data on your own device, most of this is already in your hands. For anything else, write to privacy@vicling.com and we will answer within a month.
If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
Changes
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of the page.
